Joy founded Novita Law following 12 years of professional experience working on numerous transactions in both the public and private sector where she earned a reputation for blending legal expertise with business acumen.
Joy previously worked as a Senior Associate at VELMA Law and a Junior Partner at Mkono & Co Advocates. Her experience has ranged from providing professional services to the Government of Tanzania on legal issues relating to the PPP bus rapid transit system, advising lenders and investors on land acquisition for project finance and other project finance related matters, competition issues, PPPs and public procurement process, share and asset acquisitions, debt and equity finance and the enforcement of security documents, regulatory compliance in the extractive industry, and advising oil and gas companies on production sharing agreements. Her strong intellect, integrity and drive have also been seen in legal work within the agribusiness and civil aviation sectors in Tanzania. She has been consistently ranked by Chambers Global for her service to clients.
Joy’s depth of expertise and breadth of experience proved an ideal blend for establishing her own firm in 2015. This has enabled Joy to offer her own personal approach to delivering legal counsel that always has the aim of providing pragmatic, innovative solutions for an increasingly complex and fast-paced business world.
Joy is an advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, and a member of the Tanganyika Law Society. She obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Honours) from University of Warwick in 1999, a Master Degree in International and European Legal Studies from University of Durham in 2001 and a joint Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Oxford Brookes University and Oxford University in 2012.
In addition to being passionate about her profession, Joy is also enthusiastic about food photography, travel, fitness and wellbeing.
